Stormwater Design

Rain is great—until it’s not. When developing land, all that water has to go somewhere, and without proper stormwater management, you could end up with flooding, erosion, or unhappy neighbours.

At GeoPlus, we make sure stormwater is handled efficiently, protecting your property, infrastructure, and the environment. In rural areas, managing stormwater is usually straightforward—roof water can often be collected in tanks, and runoff can be safely discharged away from buildings. But in urban settings, where infrastructure is already working overtime, we need smarter solutions like stormwater detention tanks or soakage system to prevent overload.

We take care of

Stormwater disposal advice

Not sure where all that rainwater should go? We’ll help you choose the best method for your site—whether that’s soakage, attenuation, or good old-fashioned drainage. We make sure your stormwater solution is effective, cost-efficient, and meets all council requirements.

Soakage testing and design

Before you commit to a soakage system, we’ll test the ground to make sure it can handle the job. We assess soil permeability, groundwater levels, and slope stability to design a system that actually works—so you don’t end up with a lake where your lawn used to be.

Stormwater attenuation design

If your property can’t handle all the rain at once, we design detention tanks that temporarily hold excess water and release it slowly. This keeps council infrastructure from getting overwhelmed during heavy downpours and reduces the risk of downstream flooding.

Consent documentation
Construction monitoring and compliance

Once your stormwater system is going in, we’ll check that it’s installed correctly and provide the necessary compliance documentation. That means peace of mind for you and a big green tick from the council.

Our minus the fuss approach

We’re by your side from initial assessment to project sign off, providing the expertise you need every step of the way.

1. Site Investigation

First, we perform soakage testing to get the lay of the land. Think of it as a health check for your site.

2. Evaluate

We dive into local authority regulations and assess the geotechnical factors—like slope stability and soakage potential—so everything’s up to code (and then some).

3. Design & Solutions

When on-site disposal or attenuation is required, mostly for residential developments we design the stormwater management systems. We collaborate closely with the homeowner, architectural designer, and plumber/drainlayer to determine the most appropriate and cost-effective solution for each development.

4. Reporting

Once we’ve nailed the design, we prepare a detailed report with design drawings that can be overlaid onto the overall plans for your consent application. Easy.

5. Construction Monitoring & Support

When it comes time to install the system, we liaise with the plumber/drainlayer to observe the installation.

6. Certification & Compliance

Once it’s all installed and looking great, we provide the code compliance documents (including producer statements) so your local authority is happy—and you’re ready to go.
